T 6 texan ii cockpit3/17/2023 ![]() I preferred to attach the small IFG (described in the IFG Section) as it was all the information I needed to be easily accessible each flight. You are not repelling with the lanyard!Īnother issue to resolve will be what to attach to the kneeboard with some checklist loops. Also, the lanyard should be long enough to write but short enough to not get caught on the controls and switches. You will not be pulling a pen out of your flight suit pen pocket each time you need to write. If you were to drop it or have it come dislodged in flight, you could retrieve the pen via the lanyard. This will keep you from fodding a cockpit should you drop the pen. Now.Once you have a kneeboard, you need to lanyard a writing utensil to it. ![]() So before anyone tells me to buy one and tell them what I think, I'll just say mostly I'm exploring this end of the hobby right now and asking more questions than hitting "pay now" at this point. So I do respect the feedback it's just that I tend to look for solutions and work arounds rather than stop signs. So a lot of what I see written down as big hangups for guys on this model I just look through as a one hour fix here (like the canopy), or a simple act of making sure the model is in stock before buying. That has opened my eyes to stuff like this. Other than some Starmax landing gear issues, I'm super impressed with what can be done with foam today - it flies better than my old Top Flite Gold Edition warbirds did, just not as fast and powerfully - but on the wing this thing is sweet. And more recently, I bought a Starmax A-1 Skyraider. BUT - it has really been a heck of an RC plane for me. It looked like something you'd buy a kid at a toy store. The PZ T-28 was the first instant gratification model I ever worked with a few years ago. I tend to build scratch built models and kit models that are highly "bashed" and modified, and it's been this way for 30 years of modeling since I was a little kid. I'm not normally a "plug and play" kinda guy. Modifying the canopy could take less time than it would take to post how you did it if you wanted to take pics and upload them. And thus you save an ounce or two on stuff you take out. One could very easily mod the canopy to be one where you glue some ply tongue to the front and add a latch or magnet latch on the back and "bada bing", tilting pilot problem solved in ten minutes (for those like me than don't like the pilots doing a knife edge in the pits). Much more than the Spitfire, only slightly larger by a couple inches. But - look at how much a Parkzone Spitfire with retracts will cost - way more than this one, and at the same size. Maybe afterall, there is in fact a glass ceiling above $200 for a 45" span model? So the hot sellers should just have fixed gear and wire struts and be the typical 2 dimensional setup. Maybe I'm projecting a little in what I see as "a lot more" for only a little more in price. There has to be one PZ T-28 in every other RC modeler's garage out there. I keep seeing the price being a factor - But really, after shipping, it's less than 100 bucks more than a Parkzone PNP T-28 but it has retracts, gear doors, metal oleo type struts, 4 bladed ground adjustable prop, etc etc. I saw the original thread several months ago but didn't see much chat about it as typical modelers may do talking about how they are holding up, etc. I guess I'm just surprised I haven't heard anything else about it much, recently. The flight performance will sell the plane, just like the T-28. It just has to be done right and made available here in the USA. Plus, it is gorgeous.Mark my words - An RC manufacturer will get very rich off this airframe someday. Past those points I really can't say what is wrong with the people on this forum - The Texan II is easily the most aerodynamically friendly aircraft that has not been done to death, or done at all (RXR or PNP). $300 for this plane is lunacy, and I love the T-6A! I cannot buy this plane directly from an overseas supplier (Nor would I want to) so there are currently no stateside options for me. ![]() What really kills it is the price and more importantly the lack of American options. Yeah I started the original thread for this airplane and I agree with Sammy - The canopy alone isn't a reason in itself to write the plane off entirely, but it is a huge eyesore and promises to be a true pain since you cannot fire up the plane without plugging in another battery outside the plane. ![]()
